Nicky's World Classes

When: March 1, 2010
Where: Tarzana, ca

Nicky's World is open and holding classes for limited communicators, children and young adults, in: music, yoga, movement, play skills, literacy, language enrichment, typing and fine motor skills/art. Workshops are every two months by professionals and every two months by a parent expert. 'Just between us' is a moms support group and the dads support group is a drum circle! A Sibling club and Growers club are gearing up as well. Introduction to DIR/Floor Time and Sensory Processing Disorder

This session covers Independent Education Evaluations (IEEs) in detail, specifically using psychological assessments in preparing for an Individualized Education Program(IEP) or Due Process. Identifying elements of a strong IEE, working with experts, challenging SD reports, and strategically using the IEE within the law are also covered. Basic primer on Neuropsychology and Psychoeducational Assessments and statistics and psychometrics are also included.




Support group for partners of individuals impacted by Asperger's Disorder

Dr Hess is facilitating an adult support group for partners and/or spouses of individuals impacted by Asperger's Disorder. Tuesday nights from 6:00-7:00 p.m. (ongoing). Kelter Center Writing Clini

This small group class is designed to prepare students for the demands of writing in the upper elementary grades and middle school grades. It develops sophisticated written expression skills. The first week  is titled, Building Your Toolbox, basic expository writting skills at the sentence and paragraph level, the second week is titled Paragraphs with a Purpose, writing cause & effect paragraphs, compare& contrast paragraphs, summary paragraphs and persuasive paragraphs, the third week is titled Multi-Paragraph Essays.
